Florida Head Football Coach Billy Napier has had a tough couple of years to start his journey at Florida and could be in for his worst season yet.

The Gatorsi went 6-7 and 5-7 in their first two seasons in Gainesville, which is not acceptable at Florida. Florida lost 21 players to the transfer portal and also lost stud receiver Ricky Pearsall to the NFL Draft. Florida has the toughest schedule in all of college football in 2024 according to 247 Sports.

Florida opens the schedule with in-state rival Miami in Gainesville. The Gators need to win against Miami to get off to a good start. Florida had multiple problems last season but a big one was struggling with penalties and being disciplined throughout the 2023 season. If everything goes absolutely perfectly for Florida they could win 8 games but that would be a miracle

For Florida, to do that they would have to pull off some massive upsets over teams like LSU, Ole Miss, or FSU. They do not have a chance to beat Georgia or Texas. They would also have to play disciplined sound football which they have not done in 2 seasons under Napier. If things go bad they could go really bad and win only 4 or 5 games this season.

Florida lost star running back Trevor Etienne who went to Georgia and Florida will have to play. Trevor is one of the best running backs in the SEC and he went to the best team in the country. Billy Napier has recruited well for the lack of success he has had, the current starting quarterback is Graham Mertz but five-star freshman DJ Lagway could see playing time if things go bad for the Gators.

The Florida Gators have a great booster club and do not lack NIL money which if used right can help them win in the future. A lot of people feel that this will be Napier’s last season in Gainesville. No one wishes for anyone to get fired but without a miraculous season, Napier might be looking for a job after this season. Florida is a program with high expectations because of their previous success and because their state is one of the best for high school football in the country.

The BIG question is, who will be Florida’s next head football coach?
