Texas is 2 series into their first SEC season and things couldn't be going much better for the Longhorns so far. They followed up their road sweep over Mississippi State by taking a series from #2 LSU at home after dropping the opener 8-2. Join me for a 12 pack!
- Them Texas boys are hell, y'all! This team is fun to watch because it has two things. Lots of talent and no concern about what just happened. Saturday's win was this Texas team personified. Take a punch. Land a punch. No quit in these Longhorns!
- Rylan Galvan is scorching hot at the plate. Cuda added 2 HRs and 5 RBI to the stat line over the weekend.
- It's simply impossible to overstate how good Jim Schlossnagle and his staff are at what they do. There is no way this Texas team is doing what it is doing right now without that staff.
- Dylan Volantis is a star in the making! He's now closed 4 of Texas' 6 SEC wins out and has been about as dominating as possible in the process. The SEC Freshman of the Week has ice in his veins.
- Texas doesn't hit cheap homeruns. This team can mash.
- Kimble Schuessler is a damn good ballplayer. I love the way he's fused his catching background into his play at 1B.
- Ruger Riojas mustache hats are a thing now. I saw several around the Disch for his first start as a Longhorn. Getting the win against #2 LSU in the process will only escalate the mustache hat adoption.
- Tommy Farmer might as well rent a place on the Sportscenter Top 10. For the 2nd weekend in a row, Farmer steals one from an opposing hitter late.
- This Texas pitching staff is deep enough to ruin anyone's weekend. Jared Spencer, Luke Harrison, Ruger Riojas, Max Grubbs, Andre Duplantier and Dylan Volantis can all get outs consistently. Kade Bing is coming off his best outing of the season, turning in 5 innings of work where he retired 15 straight. If some of the younger guys find some consistency and Texas can get some guys back off injuries, they could be real tough to hit come postseason.
- You've heard of him. You've never seen him on the field. But when you do it's going to be exciting. He just loves being a Longhorn. Jonah Williams!
- The party is always popping in Left Field! Go by before the game sometime. This weekend was great because there was a large contingent of LSU family and fans. They love their Tigers and almost every one of them was great to talk to!
- It's a long conference season and the SEC is stacked. Between trips to Arkansas and Oklahoma and home series with Georgia and Florida, there is still a lot of tough baseball to be played. But there is no way to be unimpressed with what this team has accomplished so far in 2025.
