I'm late on this edition of The 12 Pack but better late than never is a phrase I've become accustomed to. On the other hand, the Texas Longhorns have wasted no time introducing themselves to the rest of the SEC, racing to an 11-1 SEC record through its first 4 SEC series. Texas had previously gone on the road to sweep Miss St, took 2 of 3 from Top 5 LSU and gone on the road to sweep Missouri when the Yard Dawgs of Athens came calling. Grab a seat and let's share a 12 Pack!

  • Texas completed it's 3rd SEC sweep in 4 series on Sunday. Sit back and think about that while you sip.
  • Georgia's offense averaged 10.5 runs per game headed into the series with Texas.  Texas pitching held them to 8 runs all weekend.
  • The Texas offense isn't really where Coach Schloss wants it, but it finds ways to get big hits in key situations more often than not.  Think 10th inning walk off knock by Rylan Galvan to seal the sweep or a 2 run shot by Jaquae Stewart in the 5th of game 2 to get the Horns on the board!
  • Dylan Volantis is a shover. The two time SEC Freshman Player of the Week K'd 9 Georgia Bulldogs in 5.1 IP over the weekend.
  • Speaking of Ks, Texas pitching struck out 38 Dawgs on the weekend.  That's 13% of Georgia's total Ks in 2025 in 8% of their games.
  • Texas only trailed Georgia for 7 of the 28 innings they played.  A truly dominating performance.
  • 3 Texas pitchers set single game highs for Ks in the Georgia series.  Jared Spencer K'd 11 in his Friday start. Luke Harrison K'd 9 in his Saturday start. Dylan Volantis K'd 8 in his 4 innings of relief on Sunday.
  • The Texas bullpen didn't give up a single run against Georgia. Max Grubbs and Dylan Volantis are a problem!
  • Texas hitters outslugged Georgia, racking up 5 HRs to Georgia's 3 and 4 Doubles to Georgia's 2.
  • While we're talking hitting, let's not forget that All American Max Belyeu and Freshman phenom Adrian Rodriguez played zero innings for the Longhorns against Georgia.
  • Casey Borba's .750 OBP is the hidden stat of the weekend. Borba totaled 7 walks and 2 hits (including a HR in game 1) in 12 plate appearances.
  • Is it now safe to say that this Texas baseball team has a legitimate shot to reach Omaha?  Absolutely it is!
