Vanderbilt Dominates Oklahoma with 13–2 Run-Rule Victory
On Sunday, No. 17 Vanderbilt rebounded from consecutive losses to No. 19 Oklahoma by delivering a commanding 13–2 run-rule win in eight innings at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The Commodores' offense ignited early, scoring in seven of the eight innings. Riley Nelson led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Braden Holcomb contributed a two-run homer and a two-run double, amassing four RBIs on the day. Additional support came from Brodie Johnston and Rustan Rigdon, who each added two RBIs.
Pitching was equally effective. Starter Connor Fennell allowed just one run over 4.1 innings, striking out five. Reliever Sawyer Hawks secured the save, yielding only one run and two hits over the final 3.2 innings while also recording five strikeouts.
With this victory, Vanderbilt improved to 26–10 overall and 8–7 in SEC play. The team returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Lipscomb at Hawkins Field.
