Florida opens up with in-state rival Miami in week one and the season begins Saturday, August 31st for the Gators.

The Gators play the Hurricanes at 3:30 at The Swamp and this game will set the tone for the Gators for the rest of the season. This game being played at The Swamp is huge for Florida. The Gators have been talked a lot this offseason about how hard their schedule is and how they are going to have a disappointing season.

That is exactly why they're going to come out ready to play. Graham Mertz is a good passer and smart decision maker if he is given time he will find the open guy. The game is going to be very important up front and if Miami can get pressure on Mertz, he could struggle because of his lack of quickness.

I do expect DJ Lagway to play in week one near the goal line. He has all the tools he can run and throw so expect the Gators to have a package for him near the goal line.

Miami has an electric signal caller in Cam Ward, a transfer from Washington State and this Miami team is ranked #19 in the country. Miami had the 3rd best recruiting class in the country and had a lot of young talent.

This game is going to be one of the best games in week one. With the game being at home for Florida and being one of their biggest rivals the Gators are going to come out guns blazing.

The Gators are going to win this game. Miami will be a better team throughout the whole season, but the first game of the year on the road is a tough task for the Hurricanes.

First games are always weird because their is no film out to scout each other, their are a lot of pre-snap penalities and every year a ranked team goes down in week one. This year Miami is going to be that team and their will likely be more.
