The Texas Longhorns go on the road and earn their 2nd SEC road sweep in 3 weekends and end the week with an 8-1 record which is good enough for tops in the SEC. Grab something to eat and a seat and let's share another 12 Pack!
- There's a term in baseball known as the "slump buster". I won't go into details but Will Gasparino OD'd on slump buster before this weekend's series in CoMo. MASHparino hit .500 for the weekend with 4 HRs, 11 RBI and a stolen base. Slump officially busted!
- I've never seen more baseball players get banged up in a 2 game stretch in my life as I did Friday night and for the first half of Saturday's doubler header. Texas had to pinch hit for Adrian Rodriguez early in Game 1 for precautionary reasons. He would not play the rest of the series. Max Belyeu got nicked up on a diving catch late in Game 1. He finished the game but would not play for the rest of the series. Rylan "El Cuda" Galvan took a foul tip from a bunt attempt off his throwing hand in Game 2 and would not play the rest of the series. The good news? Texas swept and all 3 are not seriously injured.
- The 'stache is back! Almost to a man, the Horns are rocking mustaches. I'm not a fan but whatever helps you win.
- Speaking of 'staches, Ruger Riojas had his best outing as a Longhorn in his Saturday start. The UTSA transfer scattered 2 hits over 7 innings and tallied 10 Ks against no runs and no walks in his 6th win of the season.
- Texas has, realistically, 12 position players they can shuffle in and out of the lineup without a drop in production. Schloss will say 10. They don't sell beer in a 10 pack!
- The Missouri series was as trappy as it gets. #2 LSU in town the weekend before. #3 Georgia coming to town next weekend. Going on the road against a Missouri team that hasn't won an SEC game in 2025. Texas could have easily lost focus and slipped up. They dominated Missouri, scoring 29 runs and only allowing 9 over 3 games in 2 days. AND they did it with some key guys out for most of the series. This team is focused on the process and that is how you win consistently.
- You have to love what you've seen out of the core of this Texas pitching staff so far in 2025. Jared Spencer and Luke Harrison are a combined 5-1 with 3.62 and 2.12 ERAs respectively. Ruger Riojas, Dylan Volantis, Max Grubbs, and Andre Duplantier have been outstanding out of the bullpen on the weekend. Kade Bing and Jason Flores have both proven they can start midweeks and then get outs on the weekend. But what happens if those guys can't deliver?
- Kimble Schuessler, who has been outstanding at 1B this season, gets on the HR board with his first 2 HRs of 2025 this weekend.
- Texas stole 7 bases this weekend. What makes an offense dangerous? OBP: .402, Slugging: .542 and running. This Texas team has swiped 34 bags in 2025.
- While we're on the subject of running, all everything Texas Baseball and Football player, Jonah Williams, had his first SEC AB over the weekend. The true freshman drew a walk and stole his first of many bases as a Texas Longhorn.
- Sweeps don't happen a lot in the SEC. Road sweeps almost never happen. Texas is 2 for 3 sweeping SEC series in 2025 and 2 for 2 on the road.
- Texas is halfway home on reaching the 16 SEC wins it will take to host a regional in post season play. And they have 21 more SEC games to go.
