Will Tennessee Football EMERGE or SUBMERGE In 2024?

Tennessee’s record was 9-4 this past season in 2023 and they were a middle-of-the-pack SEC team. The Volunteers are looking to replicate their 2022 season when they went 11-2 and were 1 win away from being in the college football playoff.

Tennessee will be a better football team this season because their quarterback should be better. In 2023, they had Joe Milton who struggled to play well and win in the big games. Redshirt Freshman and former five star quarterback Nico Iamaleava is expected to be the starting quarterback this fall for Tennessee.

Tennessee had a great season in 2022 under starting quarterback Hendon Hooker who played smart football and threw the ball down the field with accuracy and smart decision-making. Nico Iamaleava is expected to be more similar to Hooker than Joe Milton was.

Tennessee's schedule in 2024 is not as tough as other schools across the SEC. The volunteers have a favorable schedule if they play how they are capable of. Their big games are Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Florida. Tennessee needs to win at least 2 of those games to have a good 2024 season.

Tennessee sees itself as a top program in the SEC and always has high expectations but they have not accomplished much in recent years besides their 2022 season. Fans and alumni want to see results and want Nico Iamaleava to lead the way in running Coach Heupel’s high-flying offense. Tennessee has been one of the best offenses in the SEC in the last couple of years.

This is a big year for Tennessee because Nick Saban is gone from Alabama and they have invested a lot of resources into helping the Volunteers over the hump. If quarterback Nico Iamaleava plays better than Joe Milton did last season, Tennessee's record in my eyes will be around 10-3 or 11-2, if not they could go 8-4.

The quarterback and the defense have to play better this season for Tennessee to be a top-12 team and get into the college football playoff.
