South Carolina and Tennessee have two of the best young quarterbacks in the SEC: LaNorris Sellers and Nico Iamaleava. Which one of these young quarterbacks will have a better season?
I am very high on these two quarterbacks. They both have great personalities and a great work ethic. They will be starting in the SEC for the first time this season and they both have a lot of expectations.
South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers is going to be asked to run a lot more than Nico Iamaleava. Sellers is a bigger quarterback that is a force with legs running the ball. Iamaleava has special arm talent and is going to throw the football all over the yard in Coach Heupel’s offense. Both quarterbacks are going to be great players this season for their team.
Nico Iamaleava will have a better overall season because Tennessee has better players around him than Sellers does. Tennessee has a lot more weapons at wide receiver in Bru McCoy, Squirrel White, and transfer Chris Brazzell. Iamaleava also has Coach Heupel as his coach and he is one of the best offensive minds in the SEC.
South Carolina has a lot more question marks than Tennessee on the offensive side of the ball. The Gamecocks have to play better on the offensive line which they have not done in recent years. They do not have a proven receiver on their team and that is the biggest question. How is the receiving core going to help Sellers this season?
If South Carolina can figure out the offensive line they should be really good in the run game after Rocket Sanders transferring in from Arkansas. South Carolina has the best RB room they have had in years in Rocket Sanders, Jawarn Howell, Oscar Attaway, and Juju McDowell. This RB could help Sellers a lot but that is all dependent on an offensive line that has not been good in a long time.
I think both of these quarterbacks are future superstars and huge factors in their team success. With that being said, this season, Nico Iamaleava will have the better season because of the players and coaches around him.
