A number of first year signal callers will take the field this fall. Who are the top new quarterbacks fans should keep an eye on to take the league by storm in 2024?

Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee will have a new starting quarterback this fall and it will most likely be Nico Iamaleava, a former five star that was a backup last fall.

Tennessee will look to Nico to be a superstar and there's a lot of hype around the young quarterback. Nico is the favorite to have the biggest year among the new starters. He has a good team around him and Tennessee has had a high flying offense that past couple of seasons.

Tennessee has a tough schedule this upcoming season and Nico has limited experience in the SEC. Nico is known for strong arm and his accuracy. Nico will have a lot of resources to be successful this season going along with his head coach that is a great offensive coach.

LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina will be replacing Spencer Rattler this fall and the most likely start is redshirt freshman Lanorris Sellers.

Sellers played in a few games last fall and Sellers has the potential to be a stud next season. He is a 6'3, 240 pound quarterback that can run and throw, he has a unique running ability at that size. He has very limited experience in the SEC and the biggest question with him is how accurate and decisive he can be with making decisions.

Another thing challenging is South Carolina’s schedule is brutal with LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oklahoma on the schedule. The Gamecocks do not play those teams very often normally but with all changes in the SEC it will be interesting to see how they compete with them.

I lean with Sellers over Iamaleava because of his running ability and how Sellers has a Cam Newton body type. Iamaleava most likely has a better team around him than Sellers does.

Garrett Nussmeier, LSU Tigers

Garret Nussmeier is the expected starter this upcoming season for the LSU Tigers.

Nussmeier has been around LSU for a couple years now and while he has not been the starter he does have experience playing in the SEC. He played in the bowl game vs Wisconsin and won 35-31 in a comeback win where he threw for 395 yards 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Nussmeier will have a good team around him this year with his head coach Brian Kelly trying to make the defense better for them this fall. Nussmeier will have a breakout year where he plays well and throws for a lot of yards and touchdowns. He can not run like Jayden Daniels, that is not a big part of Nussmeier's game.

There are a lot of expectations at LSU so he will have to play well to please fans.

Brock Vandagriff, Kentucky Wildcats

Brock Vandagriff will be taking over at quarterback for the Kentucky Wildcats after Devin Leary had an up and down season.

Vandagriff was a backup at Georgia for multiple seasons, he is an older guy with experience of playing. He is a good player but he is not transcendent and I think he will play well at times but also struggle because of a lack of offensive line and receiver play.

Kentucky lost multiple receivers to the transfer portal and the NFL draft which will result in him not having the best team around him.

Taylen Green, Arkansas Razorbacks

Taylen Green is Redshirt Junior at Arkansas that was previously at Boise State.

Green is a big quarterback at 6’6 and 220 pounds that can run and throw. He is a shifty quarterback that has high upside. Arkansas had a rough season last year so they will need him to play well this season. Arkansas lost their starting QB and RB to the portal, they had problems with the offensive line last season so they will need to improve that in order for Green to have success.

I think Green will have a good season but will struggle as a team with the lack of playmakers around him. Arkansas, like everyone in the SEC, also has a tough schedule so it will be tough for them to have a good year with their schedule and lack of players and experience.
