Texas improved to 5-1 with a midweek spanking of the University of Incarnate Word Cardinals at Disch-Falk field on Tuesday night. The Cardinals came into game with a 7-1 record and averaging over 12 runs per game. Belly up to the bar and join me in a 12 pack.
- The Texas starting pitching continues to impress. This time it was Freshman Jason Flores getting the Designated Start W, throwing 3 innings and allowing no runs while striking out 2.
- Patience is a virtue. The lack of patience is holding this Texas lineup back from reaching it's very scary potential. Look for Texas to slow down to speed up at the plate this weekend in Las Vegas.
- Cardinals starting pitcher EJ Garcia saw what little life he's lived flash before his eyes after narrowly escaping a Max Belyeu shot up the middle in the 3rd inning. The single left Belyeu's bat at 109mph. That's some POP!
- There's a fine line between good pitching and bad pitching and sometimes nobody knows where that line is. Cardinal batters gave Ruger Riojas and Texas fans a taste of that fine line in the 7th, sending a couple of Riojas pitches for trips to the Disch-Falk warning track. All the matters in the end is getting outs!
- Adrian Rodriguez and Jalin Flores put on a defensive clinic on the left side of the infield last night.
- How about a shutout? The Cardinals scored double digits in 6 of their 8 games headed into Tuesday's midweek at Texas.
- Good to see Casey Borba and Rylan Galvan have some success at the plate. Easton Winfield continues to struggle early on.
- Speaking of A Rod, IÂ think he had the hardest hit ball I've ever seen land on the hill right in front of the Occupy Leftfield bunch.
- Connor McCreery comes on in the 9th and after 2 quick outs, channels his inner 'Nuke LaLoosh'. He got a little wild before ultimately closing it out and preserving the shutout.
- Is it really possible that the Max Weiner effect is already on full display in Austin? This Texas pitching staff just pumping strikes early b 2025, something we didn't see consistently last season.
- Transfer Ethan Mendoza has given Texas fans a peak the last 2 games at why Schloss brought him over. 6 for 7 with 2 HRs and 3 RBI in the last two for Mendoza.
- Can we not with the green bag at first base? Justice for Stetson!
