I write this blog down in a game of Texas Hold ‘Em with a bunch of boys while my wife is in San Fransisco with one of her bridesmaids (Valentine’s Day is weird considering a saint was martyred but whatever, American culture is awesome).
Rodney Terry Win
I cannot emphasize how big of a win this is for RT. Another Quad 1 win is massive for the tournament resume. So long as UT wins the next 3-5, Texas is probably a 10 seed, which **should probably** save his job for this season. Do I care that Kentucky has 3 guards out? Absolutely not. A ranked win is a ranked win.
Tre Johnson is the Best Freshman in America
Shouldn’t be any question at this point. Tre Johnson is a game-changer. He’s just awesome. He has turned into an all around guard in the sense that he doesn’t need to score to be THE GUY. He is the best player on the 40 Acres since Kevin Durant.
UT Lives to Fight Another Day
Lunardi’s Bracket has Texas as a 10 seed at this moment. Does this change the calculus? Maybe. At the same time, beating Kentucky at home is a massive win and we cannot act like this win isn’t pivotal at this point in time. In fact, this feels like the momentum we need to get into the Big Dance. That’s really the most important issue we have right now being a bubble squad, but I won’t complain.
Ultimately, I think all of us want the chance for greatness. March Madness is madness because all it takes it is a small chance. One single moment for greatness. Texas’s greatness this season rests on the shoulders of TreJohnson.
