This season is going to be historical because of all of the changes across college football.

This season will be the first season that Oklahoma and Texas will be in the SEC and new teams will be in the Big 10. Texas and Oklahoma are two of the biggest brands in all of college football. This season there will be many big games in the new SEC, but none bigger than Tennessee vs Oklahoma.

Tennessee plays at Oklahoma in week 4 and this game will set the precedent for SEC games in this new alignment. Tennessee and Oklahoma both have high expectations and playoff aspirations this season. Tennessee is coming in with a highly recruited and hyped-up quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The Volunteers with a new quarterback have a lot of upside this season after an up-and-down 2023 season.

Oklahoma also will have a new quarterback this fall after Dillion Gambrel goes to Oregon. Jackson Arnold will most likely be the starting quarterback for Oklahoma this fall. Arnold was highly recruited and has a lot of upside if he is coached well, he could be a good Quarterback this season. This will be a battle of young quarterbacks that are getting their first start in SEC play.

This is the first game of the season that Oklahoma or Texas will play in an SEC game. Texas plays its first SEC game in week 5 vs Mississippi State at home. Tennessee is a bigger brand and a much better football program than Mississippi State. Texas should win against Mississippi State but Tennessee vs Oklahoma will be a much closer game and will set the stage for the rest of the season for the SEC.

It is going to be an exciting season in this realignment. I am excited to see those young quarterbacks play and see how Oklahoma does this season vs SEC competition.
