Ole Miss had it’s best win, potentially ever

Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels got perhaps the team's best win ever on Wednesday night, knocking off the No.4 Tennessee Volunteers.

It was senior night, and the Rebels absolutely came to play. This game was a rollercoaster of emotions. There were multiple times throughout the game where fans thought Ole Miss might lose this game. In the end, a missed, essentially open, layup sealed Tennessee’s fate.

The Rebels also finally outrebounded a good opponent, with four more rebounds the the Volunteers. Ole Miss had four players in double figures, led by an unconscious second half from Jaemyn Brakefield. There were some post game antics with Zakai Zeigler slapping a fans phone out of their hand but other than that, the game wasn’t too chippy.

The struggle remains with attendance as a whole, while it wasn’t bad, it could have been much, much better. The students showed out as always but everyone else was spread out at times. In reality, there should be virtually no seats against a top five team, but it was a midweek game so its somewhat understandable.

The lone downside to the game for me is that there were no Cam Brent minutes. I understand that the game was close, but it would have been so cool to see the beloved senior get at least some playing time at some point in the game.

Of note is that Ole Miss has received a 500K fine, which is very infuriating. This is an entirely different discussion, which needs to be had on a larger level.
