The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft got underway on Thursday night from Detroit as 32 athletes had their lifelong dreams come true. As had been the case for the last near two decades, the Alabama Crimson Tide was heavily involved during the opening round. A total of three former Alabama football stars were selected in the first round with more to come over the final six rounds.

JC Latham, Dallas Turner, and Terrion Arnold continued Alabama's incredible run of first round draft picks on Thursday night. Let's take a look at where each player landed and how they potentially fit.

JC Latham

Latham was selected by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 7 overall pick and fills a need for the team from Nashville. Latham is a plug and play guy on the right side of the offensive line at right tackle. With Latham's massive frame and strength, he will instantly help the Titans in the run game and shows tremendous promise as a pass blocker given his athleticism and length.

Dallas Turner

Turner dropped a little more than most draft analysts were expected after the Atlanta Falcons passed on him with the No. 8 pick, opting to take Washington QB Michael Penix. Turner would fall to pick No. 17 where the Minnesota Vikings traded up select the talented edge rusher. Turner is a menace off the edge but also has the ability to play as an off-ball linebacker is pass coverage. At 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, Turner ran a 4.4 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine while also posting a 40" vertical jump, the athleticism is not in question and he could be one of the leagues premier pass rushers for many years to come.

Terrion Arnold

Arnold was also part of a trade where the Detroit Lions made a deal with the Dallas Cowboys for the No. 24 overall pick in order to select the talented defensive back. Arnold is only scratching the surface of being a true cornerback but will also have position versatility in the backend of the Lions defense. Arnold now joins former Alabama teammate Brian Branch in the Detroit secondary. Arnold's competitive play and infectious personality will make him a fan favorite in Detroit.

Rounds two and three of the 2024 NFL Draft will continue on Friday night on ESPN, ABC, and the NFL Network where former Crimson Tide stars such as Kool-Aid McKinstry, Chris Braswell, and others should hear their names called.
