Kentucky has been the best they have ever been under Mark Stoops. He is a great football coach and he has shown that in his time at Kentucky. The Wildcats have had success and each year, expectations get higher.

The unfortunate truth is that Kentucky will never be able to get over the hump and beat the best in the SEC. Kentucky went 7-6 last season and had a disappointing season after having very high expectations. Kentucky struggled at times at quarterback after Devin Leary was good at times but struggled to be consistent.

Kentucky will be led this season by quarterback Brock Vandagriff who was a backup at Georgia for the last couple of seasons. He was a great high school player but has little playing time in his college career so far. This will be his first season as a starter and there are a lot of questions on how well he will play this season.

Kentucky has playmakers like Dane Key, Barion Brown, and Deone Walker. That said, it will not be enough for them to take the next step in the SEC.

The best-case scenario is 8-4 or 7-5 this season. Coach Stoops is one of the best coaches in the SEC but Kentucky does not have the resources or the ability to win the SEC. Kentucky can not recruit the athletes needed to compete with the big dogs in the SEC and will always struggle against the top teams in the SEC.

Coach Stoops has taken the Wildcats to the highest point he can. He is the winningest coach in Kentucky history and is a legend in Lexington. If he wants to win an SEC championship or a National Championship, he should go to a school with more resources and tradition.
