Jaxson Dart had the best combine for a QB, and it wasn’t particularly close

The 2025 NFL Combine came and went this past weekend, and without a doubt, Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart was the best one there.

While Cam Ward is still the number one quarterback prospect, Dart has closed the gap between himself and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Dart came into the combine at six-foot-two and 223 pounds. He has nine-and-a-half-inch hands, just under the average.

Dart had a standout day at the combine, looking sharp and making almost every throw look easy. This is even more impressive considering there was little to no chemistry between the quarterbacks and wide receivers. But when Dart threw the ball, you’d think he and the receiver had played together their entire lives.

The throw that stood out was his deep ball to Texas wideout Isaiah Bond, who went viral for his own reasons. Dart hit Bond in stride, something other quarterbacks struggled with all day. While neither Sanders nor Ward threw at the combine, other quarterbacks looking to boost their stock did. Dart outplayed them all. He even looked outstanding throwing the out routes, hitting the receivers with ease.

He has that typical Ole Miss quarterback confidence that everyone loves, but he also takes charge—something he demonstrated back at the Senior Bowl. He ended the combine by doing a cartwheel after Oregon wide receiver Tez Johnson showed off his own gymnastic skills.

Personally, I think Dart is the second-best quarterback behind Ward. Ward is the best because of his potential, but Dart could very easily be a Bo Nix-type of quarterback in the NFL. Dart should be a first-round pick, but it fully depends on the situation he enters. His ceiling, to me, is a more mobile Eli Manning, while his floor is pretty high, in my opinion, being at the level of a Derek Carr-type quarterback.
