Johntay Cook II, a former standout of the Texas Longhorns, was arrested in North Texas on multiple charges, including theft and interfering with law enforcement, as reported by On3 Sports. Cook left the Longhorns in November due to limited playing time and subsequently entered the transfer portal. However, his tenure at his new team in Washington lasted only 48 hours.

According to inmate logs in Tarrant County, Texas, Cook was apprehended early Tuesday morning and booked into the Lon Evans Corrections Center in Fort Worth. The charges against him included two misdemeanors, both of which involved theft and interfering with public duties. The bond amount for these charges has yet to be disclosed.

Cook was a standout 5-star recruit from DeSoto, Texas, and a crucial member of the Longhorns’ 2023 recruiting class. Unfortunately, there had been no new updates on his status for the past two weeks, as spring practice was scheduled to commence in the coming months.

However, following this news on Tuesday, Cook has now been confronted with an off-field issue that demands his immediate attention.
