After last year's class featured two dynamic playmakers who came off the board in the Top 12 picks, the 2024 NFL Draft doesn't feature that kind of marquee talent at running back. In fact, it wouldn't be shocking to see the first round of this year's draft come and go without seeing a single one of this year's top prospects at the position come off the board.

Kentucky's Ray Davis may not be the first of them to hear his name called, but he brings a versatile, three-down skill set that could easily make him one of the most productive players in the group from Day 1. From his time at Vanderbilt to last year at Kentucky the pieces haven’t been the best to support a back in standing out but Davis has done so regardless.

The game vs Florida that simply was “The Ray Davis Game” as he put up 289 total yards of offense by himself was truly a glimpse of what Davis can bring as a rusher. Other flashes of potential have shown again and again but one element of his profile is much bigger.

Ray Davis was a foster child and was all on his own for most of his life. As he found his passion on the field it earned him a scholarship to Temple and he had a chance to change his life forever. From having almost a 1,000 yard rushing season his freshman year at Temple to his time at Vanderbilt and Kentucky Davis has overcome every obstacle thrown at him.

As his story is being shared with many ahead of the draft members of the media, front offices, and more have said they teared up when Davis told them his story. Even with all that being proven Davis is once again up against the odds of proving himself in the NFL.

This is why he is the 2024 NFL Draft Hidden gem.
