On Sunday afternoon Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball received a commitment from one of the most highly coveted transfer portal targets, Rutgers big man Clifford Omoruyi.

With the addition of the talented near seven-footer, it's quiet possible that Coach Oats and Alabama now have a top five roster in college basketball and that is without the possible return of All-American point guard Mark Sears who is currently testing the NBA draft waters.

Not only does Cliff's commitment give the Tide a talented player, but it is at a position of need. There is no secret that the Crimson Tide struggled to protect the rim during its magical run to the Final Four this past season and now with Coach Oats adding one of the best shot-blockers in the country to his starting lineup, the possible are endless for Alabama basketball during the 2024-25 season.

As a team last season, Alabama averaged just 4.2 blocks per game while Omoruyi rejected 2.9 shots per contest. Cliff will singlehandedly transform the Alabama defense this upcoming season.

Even without knowing what Sears will do in terms of the NBA, adding Omoruyi to an already talented roster will give the Crimson Tide a great opportunity to make another Final Four run.
