Florida and Arkansas struggled last season; both coaches Billy Napier and Sam Pittman are on the hot seat. Both of these coaches need good seasons to keep their jobs and show that they are still the right coach for their program.
Both programs made some changes to their coaching staff and got some transfers to come in and help them win. Arkansas hired Bobby Petrino as their offensive coordinator and added transfer quarterback Taylen Green from Boise State.
Florida hired Ron Roberts as their Co-defensive coordinator who is a veteran coach that has a lot of experience. Florida also promoted Russ Callaway to Co-offensive coordinator, Callaway was coaching the tight ends last season.
Which team will have a better record in 2024?
Arkansas will have a better record and season than Florida this year because Taylen Green and Coach Petrino are going to score a lot of points this season. Sam Pittman is also a good coach and if the Razorbacks can stay healthy they can surprise some people this season.
I am high on Coach Petrino and Taylen Green coming to Arkansas. Green is a good passer and an explosive runner that can take off at any moment.
As for Florida, their schedule is too difficult for them to have a better season than Arkansas. They have the most difficult schedule of all time and if they do not beat Miami in week one, I do not see a lot of other wins on their schedule. Billy Napier is going to have the whole fan base breathing down his neck and it could get bad towards the end of the season where the Gators play five top 20 teams in a row.
If the Gators start to lose, they will flip to freshman Quarterback DJ Lagway and he will provide a spark to the offense. However, it won't be enough to win games vs some of the best teams in the country.
