Mike Elko will be coaching his first season at Texas A&M this fall and he has all the resources he needs to build a championship program.

Coach Elko has spent some time at Texas A&M as an assistant coach. Coach Elko spent the past 2 years at Duke as the head coach where he led Duke with 2 good seasons. Duke won against Clemson in the opener this past season and they were a good team. Their quarterback Riley Lenard battled some injuries and that ended up holding them back some.

Coach Elko did not have the resources at Duke that he will have at Texas A&M. The Aggies are in Texas and have some of the best high school football in the country. There are no limitations financially either, the Aggies have so much money they do not know what to do with, and the more they win the more money they will get. Texas A&M has been looking for the right football coach to win them a national championship. In recent years the Aggies teams have lacked discipline and the ability to be consistent winning vs top ranked opponents.

With Elko coming to College Station, the Aggies will have a coach that will make sure his team is ready to play. This season for the Aggies you will see signs of life and hope for the future. They will have challenges this year, there are going to be some frustrating games but that is part of the process. Anytime you lose your head coach there's a lot of turnover on the roster.

The Aggies have a returning quarterback in Conner Weigman who is coming off of an injury. Before his injury, Weigman played well and had the ability to throw the ball down the field well. With coach Elko guiding him he will make strides. It is going to be interesting to see if the offensive line can protect him and give him time to throw.

The Aggies will have a good year 1 but in year 2 I think they could make a big jump. It will be interesting to see if the Aggies can pull off a couple upset's this season and have much momentum they can get going into year 2 of coach Elko.
