Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz has turned Missouri around and they had one of the best football teams in the country last season. The Missouri Tigers went 11-2 last season with their only losses to LSU and Georgia. Missouri is not a blue-blood powerhouse football program but they played like one last season.
The question is, how and why they had the success they have. Coach Drinkwitz has done one of the best jobs in the country in adapting to this new age of college football. What he has done is get the best high school recruits from Missouri to go to Missouri. Luther Burden and Brady Cook are two of Missouri's best players and they are both from Missouri.
Both Cook and Burden are returning this season for the Tigers and they are a great duo. Burden is one of the best receivers in the country and he is absolutely incredible on the football field.
Another thing that Missouri and coach Drinkwitz have done is play sound-smart football. The Tigers this past season and previous years have not had the best talent in the SEC. The SEPARATING factor has been Missouri won the games that they should win or that are 50/50 games. This past season they won vs Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Ohio State in the bowl game.
They played sound, simple, smart, and non–mistake football for most of the season.
Missouri is showing no signs of slowing down either with an anonymous donation of $62 Million dollars for $50 million going towards stadium renovations and $12 million going towards their NIl Collective. This is another example of Missouri modernizing its program and adjusting to the current state of college football.
Missouri’s football program is in the best spot it has been in a decade. I am extremely excited to see what the Tigers do this season because they are trailblazing a new path for other football programs to try and emulate. With the investment of their boosters and head coach, Eli Drinkwitz Missouri could be in a great position for success for a number of years in the future.
