Baseball season is right around the corner, which means it’s time to dive into what to expect from the SEC slate for this season. Much like football, the transfer portal is an important factor in the baseball world. To the surprise of no one, the SEC reigns supreme with 10 of the 14 members inside the Top 25 in the portal rankings.

LSU boasts the number two transfer class heading into the 2024 season. Michael Braswell, a transfer from South Carolina, leads their portal class. Braswell, who was nothing short of a bust at South Carolina, is looking for a change of scenery in Baton Rouge, as he looks to rejuvenate his career. The Tigers also added a couple of arms from UCLA and Alabama.

Tennessee comes in right behind LSU with the number three transfer portal class. The headliner of their class is former Clemson Tiger, Billy Amick. Amick’s departure from Clemson was a shock to the people of the upstate, as his family had a long history with the University.

The Vols also added Cannon Peebles from NC State. Peebles was an all-region selection in the Columbia Regional in 2023.

Texas A&M follows behind the Vols and Tigers with the number four class in the portal. Picking up star Braden Montgomery was huge for the Aggies, as he will look to dominate both on the mound and at the plate.

The Aggies focused heavily on offense in the portal, picking up shortstop Ali Camarillo, as well as ivy league transfers Hayden Schott and Jackson Appel.

Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Alabama follow behind in the portal rankings at 6, 7, and 8 respectively. The Hogs and Rebels will be looking to continue their runs as two of the most dominant teams in the SEC, while the Crimson Tide are looking to make it to the College World Series for the first time since 1999.
