One of the most famous wrestlers in WWE history is “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Believe it or not his wrestling career actually began in Lexington, Kentucky. That said, even he would’ve been disappointed in the Kentucky Wildcats locker room’s version of, “Rumble in the Jungle”.

Earlier last week, video footage was released from an old fight between former offensive lineman Jeremy Flax and one of his former teammates. I’ve been around plenty of locker room fights in my lifetime, it happens.

Tempers flare, guys get ticked off whenever stuff starts to get to their head, and they even jokingly play fight. I don’t really have a problem with the locker room fighting, not that it should be tolerated especially between two guys that are supposed to be each other’s brother, but it's the fact that the video was taken in the first place.

This shows you that there is a severe lack of leadership in that locker room, guys just wanna get clout by posting something like a fight or a prank on social media and nobody wants to hold the other person accountable. Fighting in your locker room should not be accepted, or tolerated, is it going to happen, sometimes, should it be videoed, absolutely not. Especially when it gets to the point where your own teammate bodyslams you to the floor, even then during the video, nobody steps in to help out.

This fight should have never escalated to the point of where it went to last year, Mark Stoops is the winningest coach in Kentucky Wildcat football history, his success on the field is unparalleled to some of the greats that have come through Lexington. But this is not a good look for his program, his players shouldn’t even be videoing a fight, they should be stepping up and breaking up the fight and holding the two accountable for their actions, regardless of who started the fight.

There should be some leadership on the team that says that enough is enough, but it seems like everyone doesn’t want to until it leads to someone already getting hurt worse than they should have been. Stoops’s job won’t be at risk because of this: his contract runs through 2030 and it is hard to fire a coach who’s school doesn’t have a great history of winning.

However, this should be a wake-up call, not only for him, but for the entire Kentucky Wildcat football team.
